Boyd comes to visit

Our good friend Boyd from Med school and residency has moved to Phx area and so he came down for the day. We took him first to Saguaro National Park and did a little hike, then we went up to Mt. Lemmon. We luckily were able to leave Grant home because he definitely would have hopped right off that mountain!

The kids love Mt. Lemmon so much. They love exploring and hiking even though it scares me to death having children on a mountain!

It's so beautiful up there. The nice thing is it takes less than an hour to get up and it can drop 20 degrees. Quick little get away to escape the heat.
Later that night we took Boyd to awesome downtown Tucson :) We went to a mexicany restaurant, can't remember the name, but it was quite the experience. First of all, it's was still super hot outside, and earlier Dave and I had an indoor soccer game and inside there it's hot because it's just a warehouse with swamp, so we felt like we still hadn't cooled off. Plus we spent all morning outside. We finally get seated and they bring us luke warm water. We were all thinking, "Is this for real??" It's blazing hot and they give us warm water and no ice. Then to top it off, we start to realize how hot it was in the restaurant. I couldn't take it any longer so I finally braved and asked the waiter if I could get some ice for my water. He says questionly, "Ice?" Ummmm, yes please if that ok. He then brings me ice and sets it down on the table not so softly and walks away. We could not figure out what was going on. Boyd then did the same and asked for ice as well. Again they were kind of rude. I know Tucson people are pretty hippyish, especially down town, so maybe we were just embarking and being snobbish. We eat, food was great, but needed to get out because we were so hot. Before we leave we see a few people come walking in with bags and bags of ice. Then a few minutes later, more bags. Clearly they were just OUT of ice. They could have said so sheesh. Dave then asks as we are walking out, "Is the A/C out or is it normally this hot??" The hostess then says how the A/C went out that day. Ha, bad luck for us! I still don't think we'll go back though :) Good times!
